I couldn’t agree more! If a pill could magically take away the thin veil of darkness that has been part of my life, I would lose access the complex and paradoxical beauty of that darkness.

There have been so many times I’ve mistakenly interpreted that darkness as oppression or pathology when it was actually just the shell of my chrysalis. There’s no way to witness the transformation until the metamorphosis is complete. Only when I can look back on the empty shell do I realize that I’ve changed and have emerged in entirely new form.
